Title: Boston area Inspection
Post by: ctm14 on September 20, 2010, 05:57:14
Hello,

I am in need of a knowledgeable mechanic to perform a pre-purchase inspection.  The car is located 45 minutes west of Boston.  I searched the forum but did not find anything current.  Thanks for any recommendations.

Try Joe Christiano. He was the chief mechanic at Hatch & Sons and knows these cars extremely well. His cel phone number is 781-603-8030.

Thanks LakisAkylas,

The car is from Hatch so I think it would be better to have someone without ties.

Have you tried European Auto Solutions in Waltham?

Jim Cosgrove, who is in Harvard, MA, also worked for Hatch ten years ago. He is excellent and knows these cars very well. Even though he worked for Hatch I would have him check out the car. His # is 978) 456-7740. His company is Oldtimers Restoration. Check it out.

Thanks All,

I guess everyone knowledgeable in the MA area has some former affiliation with Hatch :).

I have dealt successfully with Hatch and Jim Cosgrove in the past and I think Jim could give you an objective independent opinion.
If you want another source go to www.paulrussell.com.  They have a world class restoration facility and I am sure could give you whatever diagnosis/opinion you would need.  They are in Essex, MA.

Thank You everyone,

If this checks out I may finally have a pagoda and will officially join the group and start adding some value.

If Hatch is selling the car then you don't need an inspection! They don't sell dubious cars.

Ed Owen would be your contact here. You can reach him at ed@virtualeas.com. The car appears to be 100% by the photos. So you know, Hatch is not known to market anything but very correct, clean cars.

Thanks Kevin and everyone else for your recommendations.  I have a deposit on the car pending an inspection this week by Jim Cosgrove.  Hope everything checks out, it sure is a nice looking car.
