No Ulf, you are definately not the only one.
Don't even get me started on this hotrod.... >:(

for those of you who don't want to waste your time, it's a poor quality youtube video of a bastardized pagoda. Not good footage, nothing worth clicking on.

Scoot - a little grumpy, are we? Or did you just forget your manners? ;)

...and a bastardized pagoda it is.
Allow me to elaborate on this abomination a bit more.
It was a late 1963 LHD pagoda that lost the original engine somewhere in the mists of time and went through a couple of owners who sort of lost interest. A fellow MBCSA member bought the shell a couple of years ago and decided to turn it into a hotrod....
It all started with the engine and then what followed was a cascade of never-ending modifications and "improvements" to accommodate the power:
- Engine from a 560SL (R107) with compression lowered to accommodate twin turbos (one on each bank).
- Rear axle from a 300SEL 6.3
- Custom propshaft (quite a few got destroyed)
- W126 autobox (again, the car ate a few)
- ABS unit from a W202
- Ventilated disc brakes all round
- 17" wheels
- Uprated suspension
The end result: a car that looked like a pagoda, but lost all the pedigree and ride quality of one.
BTW, that particular youtube video was shot with a mobile phone camera, hence the poor quality.

I think its better on the road like it is - than being passed around to people who dont have the time, money, or know how to ever get it back to original condition. Still a pagoda what ever it runs. ::)

At least they used MB parts - not that it matters much...
