Gawk! I had that kind of money to spare and the wheel wasn't in the right (wrong) side, I would be tempted. But Silver Arrows always seem expensive...

why is NJMIL desirable?

Unlike some US states, in the UK you can't personalize licence plates. Hence a strong market developed for unusual licence plates and licence plates with the owners initials- the lower the number alongside the initials, the more valuable the plate. Fantastic prices have been for some licence plates and even today there is an active market in the stuff. All sorts of rules/constraints exist which make it a bit of a black science.

I like the color combo too. ;D
But mine is not metallic.

I have traded a few licence plates in my time, I was on to DVLA to buy a plate for my 280sl recently, I asked if MER 280 or 280 MER had been released, It hasnt but may be put up for auction, They said similar plates like MER 100 had been sold, (i bought that) I had it on my 107 300 sl, but somebody pulled me one day and made me an offer i couldnt refuse, I tend to buy them to suit the car then they can stay on it, Unlike names, Its a pain swapping all the time, I want a nice H 1970 plate for this one, I get auction lists sent to me so ime on the case

Just been reading our club mag which reported a 230SL sold at the Goodwood Festival of speed for £70,000 a few weeks ago.Cheers. Mike. :o

An infinished project 230 just sold on ebay for £23000! Yes, twenty three thousand pounds sterling for an UNFINISHED car!!!
-
Silchester sell theirs for £75000 and for that you get unpainted wheel trims, odd tyres and overspray...nice.

So, why has a '71 car got a '73 registration plate.
One may NOT use a cherished plate to make a car appear newer than it actually is....
A '73 import perhaps?
