Title: Chrome trim - Where to fit these?
Post by: rgr69SL on August 15, 2010, 15:12:49
Am finishing off a restoration of a LHD 280SL started by someone else and am unsure where these fit.  Any help clarifying where these items go would be appreciated.

thanks
Greg

They go on the A-pillars and hold the rubber seals in which the door windows slide.
Don't forget to install the clips that prevent the rubber from sliding up or down with the glass.

Thanks for the reply and I now also know where those clips I have bagged up are supposed to fit!

Am out of town on a business trip to the Rockwall, Texas for the next 6 weeks so will give it a go when I get back to New Zealand. Works out well as I'm planning on filling up my luggage with all the randome items I need for the trip home.

thanks
Greg

Actually these have a tapered end and they go onto the soft top frame on the door glass side.  The tapered end goes to the base of the pillar.
The rubber for these is a simple soft rubber.  The rubbers that go onto the windshield pillar are covered in a slippery cloth to allow the glass to slide up and down easily.
