Title: Soft Top Compartment Release Handle

Can anyone explain to me how this handle can be removed?

I am installing a complete carpet set... I have got to my last piece and the carpet does not have the hole cut out for this handle...

So my plan it so affix the carpet and then cut the hole out carefully... but I cant see how it comes off? The only way i can see it a small 8mm nut on the latch inside the compartment but it looks like the whole lot will fall to bits if I undo this?!

Jay that is correct about the 8mm bolt.  I did mine but it was rather easy.  The handle will slide out.  I will look at mine later but things need to line up when you put it back together.  Overall pretty easy.  Dont forget to clean and lubricate it when it is out.

thanks all done...

If anyone does this, do not undo the handle, place it in the hood compartment and then close the cover :(

As you pull out the handle follow it along with a screwdriver or something that will fit to keep it all together.
