My Pagoda just sailed through the MOT today ;D
and got a picture in Pagoda notes ;D
Just needed to share that ;)

Congratulations..!

Timely post, Larry. It reminded me to check when mine runs out. Tuesday!
Booked her in for this Saturday. I have to watch these guys like a hawk. Last year they tried to lift her at the front by putting a ram underneath the oil pan!
She'll pass, but only if they don't break her in the process.

James you got me worried but all looks to be ok. I must admit I was not happy with the way they slammed the boot and bonnet(hood)!
Hope all goes well with your MOT, this was my first so i was a little unsure what to expect.
Cheers
Larry

Same here! ;D
I booked her in for this morning at a brilliant garage behind Wembly Stadium. ( As recommended by Roger Edwards Motors )
Waited 45mins while Mr Madden admired her & took very good care of her. ( He is used to looking after these cars.)
It felt as if I was taking a child to hospital... :o , I'm sure you know what I mean!
Service coming up shortly & then packing for France. ;)

Here MOT for classics (above 40) are only due with 8 year intervals - thats very nice...

OK I'll bite. What is a MOT?

Ministry of Transport test... started in the UK in the sixties because of the number of unsafe cars on the roads. I'm sure someone can fill in the details, but it involves brakes, signals, etc and (more recently?) emissions. FYI, in Ireland the similar NCT test was only started after 2000 and people could drive without taking a driving test until 2009 :o

Here's some detail from our very own government's website

Larry congratulations, its always a nervous time, even when you know how good your car is.
Mines due in 9 days time, but have a great little local garage that understands classics and as others have siad spends most of the MOT process drooling over the car :)
-
All done. It's a Skoda garage and not used to classics, but the tester was great and let me do the test with him (me in the car, him doing the checks, etc). He was gentle! Nothing wrong with her at all, which is just as well otherwise I'd have to shoot the mechanic, and that would hurt.
She's only done 1192 miles in the year. (France should boost this years mileage by some margin).
We put her on the emissions machine just out of interest, and even cold (having run for >5mins her CO2 was 7% steady, which was good, although she may be running a little lean which would account for low idle speed, etc).
Anyway, very happy indeed.

When I lived in Pennsylvania 20 years ago we call the test an "inspection". Took it twice a year and got a sticker for the windshield with a number on it to show you passed. Where I live now in Colorado I don't need an inspection.
