Title: Installing Hardtop Roof Garnish Mouldings (aka ski rack attachments)
Post by: Nate on August 04, 2010, 01:18:06
I'm completely restoring my hardtop and I've decided to add the roof garnish mouldings (aka ski rack attachments).  I'm trying to find out what material or compound I should use to seal the holes that are drilled to secure the mouldings to the hard top.  The last thing I want to see is water stains on my new headliner...  >:( Thanks!

I plan to install the rail on my roof.  I plan to fill the bolt hole top and bottom (outside and inside the roof) with silicon caulk. Then, when I tighten the rail mounting bolt, the caulk will fill all the little cracks.

Gernold suggested a urethane adhesive made by Wurth.  He hasn't had any issues (leaks) and this material seems to hold up well over time.
