I'll bet that very few side-seat owners have ever had a rider back there so while the speaker installation looks odd, it probably didn't sacrifice seating space...

Cars that came with a side-seat also came with the pieces to restore the original bench seat. I guess this car didn't have those pieces else a more standard installation could have been made...

Doug: how do you find so many strange and hidden Pagoda websites???

The price for this super-duper stereo installation was over $3,000 if my math is correct. There's mention of all kinds of heavy-duty cabling. Still, even at that price, the chassis necessitated some serious compromise where the 'extreme deep bass' is concerned. And I still wonder about the use of a high-end stereo in our Pagoda's because, at higher speeds, the engine and other mechanical, and wind noises, just have to interfere with Mozart somehow!

I think Tom Saragent had the best idea for upgrading his stereo in his 280SL
