Title: Washer Pump Rebuild
Post by: Richard Madison on June 15, 2010, 20:53:14
The windshield washer pump does not make any noise or show any sign of life.

Electric power is going to the pump but it's not working.

Ready to take it apart for cleaning.

What am I going to find in there?? Will small parts be falling out?

Is there a step-by-step posted for this job?

Thanks,

Richard,

It's a piece of cake. There are a few plastic cogs, I recall, but the motor etc is sealed. Mine had just seized through lack of use. I think there are 4 philips head screws to remove. It may need a little convincing to come apart, but not much.

I bought mine back to life in about 15 mins.

Why not photograph the job as you go?

I did the same as James, pulled apart the pieces I could, sprayed it with WD40 and put it back together - took about 20 minutes and it has been running sweetly ever since. Anyway, it's worth a try before ordering a new one...
