hi
how in h.ll do you dismantle wood veneer i took of th right one,but the left one is pain in the ass.what is the easy way in

I'm sorry there is no easy way to remove the drivers side wood. I don't recall for sure but atleast the tachometer must be removed to gain access to the nut securing the wood. There maybe another stud behind the speedo. Getting it over the gauge covering is a pain also. Some have used plastic milk cartons to cover the vinyl while sliding the wood out. This is to prevent the stud from gouging the material.

I cracked my instrument pod doing that. Carefull. Short of pulling the windshield I have no advice.

Hi Leppee,
The two photos have been taken thru the instruments holes in the dash both speedo and Tach to show where the nuts come through the top of the dash board. Unless you can reach up under, the easiest way is to remove the instruments to access the holding nuts even then it is most difficult to remove the timber with the windscreen in place.

The plastic nuts require a 9mm nut. If you cannot reach the one furthest to the left by hand try a long skinny extension.

I completed the task this past winter while gently loosening the Tachometer, Center Cluster and Speedo. I brought the insturments out toward the interior but did not remove them entirely. I was then able to reach underneath the dash and off to the left to remove the far left plastic nut. Then gently
manipulate the wood insert without damaging the dash surface or wood insert. It is an advantage to have small hands. Be careful. Best of luck, Greg

i have dismatle instrument lots of old cars from 60-70,bmw volvo etc but this one is like a "you havt to think andwhat a hell is this now"its to good biuldt. I think i have to get some beer for my dismantle project ;)

I like to remove the steering wheel first. It comes off easily and makes things so much easier to work on. Just pay attention to the index "slash" mark on the end of the steering column ( inside the steering wheel housing). It hould be indexed straight up when the two front wheels are pointing straight ahead.
I remove the speaker and the tachometer for good access to the left side wood attachment screws. Remove the bottom left dash pad then unfasted the metal bracket holding the two electrical plug connection. You now have room to unfasten the tach (rpm gauge) and remove it.
Cold beer will soothe swoolen, bruised, cut hands and damaged egos! Be careful not to apply too much beer until the job is finished !
