i know there is 2 subframe mounts out there, the one specifically for the w113 and then the ones for the w108 that k&k and millers sell.
i heard from looking around the site that the w108 mounts are about 1/8th inch talller than the w113.
well the w113 kit runs about $400 and the W108 a mere $150
my question was if i could take the w108 mounts and grind about 1/8th in off where the mount meets the subframe,as not to make the front end sit higher than designed. would this comprimise the integrity of the mount or have some other negative effect?
i really need new mounts, but looking for a pocket friendly way to do so, as i still have a bodywork repair bill hanging over my head.

with at least 40 y old springs the 1/8 more can help make the car look like the right hight . got those on my car and the hight looks good

As a point of reference; when I was trying to correct a sagging issue with my 25+ year old 107. I thought new sub frame mounts would be the solution......boy, was I disappointed. While the fresh rubber "mounts" were not nearly as compressed as the old in a relaxed state, they did zero to correct the issue. As it turned out springs and Bilsteins were what I needed. For that reason I'm going to agree with Erik in that 1/8" will likely not make enough of a difference to be noticeable.

go with the W108 mounts. AutohausAZ has the mounts (made by Febi Bilstein) on sale for $115 compared to $413 for the MB part. but be sure to keep the metal plates since they are not included in the W108 kit!

Originally the part # was the same when the mounts could be bought separately. Now when you buy them in a kit they have different part numbers for each car. I bought a NOS one a few months ago and it was the same as the one in the 108 kit. I think there is a myth that the height is different to sell SL owners a more expensive identical part. My originall parts books for 113 111 and 108 show the same part number for all 3 chassis.

I used the less expensive 108 mounts at about the same time that I was putting in a 3.27 rear. I ended up using the thickest size spring pads in the rear and the thinnest pads in the front to level the car. I'm happy with the overall height.

There is definately a height difference in the two mounts. I thought it was more like a 1/4". I like Awolff's solution of using thinner spring pads and the W108 kit. Anyway, consider the possibility that the rubber hardness could be different also?
This could be a very good topic to document if we can get some actual measurements and numbers. First thing that should be documented is the actual correct ride height. A measurement from the center of the star on the wheel cover, directly up to the lip of the fender is a good ref.

i could replace the spring pads but frankly i dont have the time or money to do so.
still wondering if the bottom portion could be grinded down a bit to compenstate for the height differnece
