When I went home to KC last week I copied a photo of the 1936 500K Special Roadster replica that my father built from scratch, ca. 1976.
He called it the "Marlene"
Photo below the real deal at the Mercedes Museum, Untertürkheim.

Hi Al,
nice photos. Is the replica still in the family?

And poor misguided people that think of sex on wheels as a Ferrari are missing the boat completely!

No the car is not in the family any more. The car and the molds to make the body work were sold to the maker of the "Bradley GT" but he never was able to do anything with them. I think one of the Marlene cars is still in the Kansas City area. From what I have been told it may be one that was built on a '70 Beetle floor pan. An old friend from high school says he knows where it may be, I should have him look into what it would take to get it back.

Hi Al,
I have seen one that looks quite similar in an engine repair shop called "Quivira Garage" in Edwardsville, KS . Perhaps your friend should give the owner - his first name is Mark - a call.
