I just purchased a set of the original type rubber floor mats for my '66 230SL from the dealer. It had none, just carpet, when I purchased the car. The Driver's mat has no holes for the following: dimmer switch, steering column, accelerator pedal base, accelerator stop bolt, and clutch cylinder pipe. I assume the latter should just be a slit cut in from the top. The first should just be a hole punched in, along with the stop bolt hole. But the accelerator hole should be cut how? A slit from the right side? Or a skinny hole? And the steering column, a slit cut in from the side to a big round hole? I've never seen an original. Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,
There are some measurements from my original mat in this post:

Unfortunately the accelerator pedal section is missing. Hopefully someone can provide the missing accelerator info, and cross-check my dimensions.

I recently went through the same thing but had the old mat for a template. The gas pedal area has small dimples if you look closely you can see where the cut out should be. Since you don't have an original mat make a template from a piece of plastic or card board the exact size of your mat then start by lining up the gas pedal first then the other holes. I used a hole saw to cut the round openings. Use it in reverse to avoid tearing the mat.
