Title: Refitting SL with modern mechanicals and electrics
Post by: Aussieslfan on April 09, 2010, 04:06:20
There is evidently a company in East Germany that specialises in resore old merc and replaces the mechanicals with modern engines, brakes and transmission. Does anyone know their name or web address?

I think there was an article about them in Classic & Sportscar a while back focusing on their W112 convertibles with W126 (560 SEC) running gear.

Sorry Aussie,

Mechatronic is in Pleidelsheim near Stuttgart. That was definitely "West"Germany (and still is) :o

They perform excellent craftsmanship, both, for restoration and modern update.

Best,
Achim

There's an article in an old Pagoda World about it. If I recall, it was also put in the Aussie club magazine. Would have been 2007/8

That would be "interesting" - Rolls Royce actually fitted a RR Merlin 12-cylinder from a Spitfire into a saloon in the 60's, read about it when I was a kid, but haven't seen it since...
