Title: Mystery clip, heater area
Post by: cascadia on February 19, 2010, 00:36:25
I'm putting the heater core and flaps back in the car and can't remember what purpose this piece serves!  Once I'm done in this area I definitely don't want to have to go back.  There are 2 of them so I'm wondering if they work somehow with the left and right flaps?  The piece is 2" long and 1/2" wide.

Wow???  I have a 280sl.  I took my car completely apart and put it back together again and I am sorry to say that I dont recognize this part.

Looked through all my photos of the heater core, blower, and flaps but cannot find it associated with these parts.
Does your heater core have hub caps?  ;D
Because it looks like a wheel cover clip.

Wow, who'd have thunk it  :)  Thanks for the answer, now I can move on to the heater levers and blower assembly.  Got the new heater core in, I lubed up the control valve with plumber's grease, should be good for another 40 years.

I agree with Alfred. Looks a lot like a wheelcover clip

Having been through my heatercore R&R mission a couple of years ago, I don't recall seeing any clips like that.
