Post by: glenn on February 18, 2010, 22:52:16
I have receive an e-mail sent by 'John Harkin'.  It says he was robbed at gun point in London.  He requested help-$950 suggested.  Is this legit?  What is up?  Nigerian scam?  John, are you OK?

I got that too. I figured it was a scam and it just happenerd to be the name of someone we know. Far too '' out there '' to be real, I hope.

Likewise.

blue230@gmail.com is the web address.

Clearly a scam, because when one considers the weather we're having in London at present no one in their right mind would travel here from the US with a return ticket and defined release date.

Definitely a scam. There are software programs in use by thieves, that will copy a user's entire contact list and begin sending junk mail to the members of the list. The messages appear legit because they appear to have originated from someone you know. One of my close friends, who actually had his contact list stolen, finally had to abandon his long-term email address in order to get stop the forged messages.
