Title: Answer to a Cryptic Question
Post by: treedoc on February 16, 2010, 07:41:37
Some time back I started a thread re Silver Mustang vis Blue Pagoda, it seems to have disappeared, maybe I inadvertently cancelled it

Anyway the proof of the pudding is in......."
There are definitely times when a Mustang is preferable to a Pagoda, 24 hours after our sortie over Noosa River my feet have not yet touched the ground.
35 minutes in this Anglo / American Masterpiece with a very competent jockey in comand kills all the memories of being behind the wheel of a real 300SL Gullwing, a 6.3,  or an SL600 as well as all other go fast buggies I've ever driven.
A climbing stall turn over Laguna Bay, followed by a diving run over the Coast Guard Tower at the entrance to Noosa River and a fast barrel roll on the way back to Caboolture Airport, it really doesn't get any better than that.
The ballast in the back seat is yours truely
Anyone interested in hiring this particular P51-D Mustang see www.mustangflights.com

Peter, flight was a great experience, what a magnificent aeroplane they are, when you think about it they where just about the pinnacle of prop driven fighters, flying further, faster and higher than most others. As a teenager I often spent Saturday afternoons sitting in the hulk of one.
My other connection with the Mustang was through knowing two pilot friends who flew them in the Korean War where they were still used as an effective ground attacked aircraft. So our flight on Monday was also a tribute to them and their mates.

I can see an nice addition to the "pagoda in motion" thread with you racing the mustang down the runway in your blue Pagoda!

Tell us you got a mpeg of it

Rob,

Sorry no video of Pagoda trying to keep pace with the Mustang but what a good idea, am sure the air safety board would love a copy if we could arrange a rematch.
Here's some shots of the take off curticy of Hanspeter Buechli.

Beautiful plane and car Geoff.

My Pagoda is the exact same color and configuration. I wish I could say the same about my P-51 ;D

"Tom,

If you have a P51 real or just a model how about posting a picture of it and your Pagoda

Geoff Eldridge"

Hi Geoff

I am a private pilot, but I was just kidding about the P51. Not only do I wish my P51 had the same color, but I also wish I HAD a P51. Or a Spitfire for that matter since I think those two were the coolest WWII planes around....
