The top picture my fathers 1965 230SL I grew up in, it was our summer car and every child hood memory since I was 2 had that car in it (Picture taken in 1985). I was 12 he had to sell it so the family could move out of brooklyn. I always said I would have the car again someday. The Second picture was taken in 2010. It took 15 years and at only 27 years old I was able to buy a 1969 280SL and restore the car and all the memories that go with it.

Good for you !!!
Congratulations.
Many of us have emotions wrapped up in these Pagodas.
It looks like a beautiful car.

Well Congratulations
Beautiful car, and a great acheivement,
While many of your memories would be from the passenger seat, many more to come from driving it. There is something about jumping in that drivers seat, an incredible feeling of pride and excitement. All other issues in ones life get set aside for a bit.
Enjoy!
are u still around new york? Plent of great photo opportunities
. Look forward to seeing more pics
I am very biased towards the blue.

This is the best kind of car to have: Childhood memories regained with determination and the sweat of one's brow! Enjoy it and drive it until the road wears out. ;^)

Forget the car, I miss Brooklyn...even though only a few miles away now, in days gone by Brooklyn was for us was the Center of the Universe, a very unique place...and the home of the Brooklyn Dodger baseball team. There will never be another time or place like the Brooklyn of old.

Oh, yes...very, very nice cars, the new and the old.

Congrats, I think your story goes for a lot of us here. We all have a very strong bound with our cars and many times our childhood memories are for a great part responsible for that feeling (my case)
