Title: The Pagoda 500 ...
Post by: Cees Klumper on February 22, 2004, 15:04:22
Quietly, we passed the 500 member mark yesterday. We also celebrated our first year of existence last week !
I've been keeping track of the 'growth rate' and we are still adding just about one new forum member each day. The number of full members is about 150, and they will be receiving the new issue of 'Pagoda World' in the mail within a couple of days.

The goal is to reach as many Pagoda owners as possible. Nobody knows how many cars survive today, but probably a good guesstimate is between 20,000 and 30,000. We will continue working on publishing Pagoda World (back issues can be purchased by the way), organizing events, writing the ownership, maintenance and repairs manual, and doing all of those other things car clubs do. And as always - if there's anything we should be doing better, just post your suggestions here.

Cees.. thanks for all your hard work to make this the a really vital and enjoyable club.

Do we have a campaign to get lots of links to our site from parts houses, repair shops, restorers and other Benz related web sites?

I’ve had the W113 Promo video being critiqued on several video production sites and in addition to pointers for what I should have done differently, I also get questions about the club.  I’m sure once Pagoda people experience the site they will be hooked.

I'd like to see more of the technical threads edited and moved into the technical articles section. There has been lots of good dialog on topics that would make great stand alone articles. Easier to find too. Search is nice, but not always brings back everything. Great site. I've learned a lot.

We're working on both Shawn and Dick's suggestions (i.e. condensing more of the technical information into the technical articles / a tech manual and 'getting the word out' better). Being a labor of love, things take a bit longer than one would like to see, but, in due course, we will see these things materialize.

Dear Cees,

After months of chronic problems with my modem connection in Strasbourg, I am now in Brussels and can resume my forum activities.  You have no idea how I missed participating, it's such an enjoyable forum.  Thanks for all your wonderful work!  Looking forward to Pagoda World soon...
