Title: Big Question About My Car
Post by: Adivasi on January 17, 2010, 11:35:03
I have a 280SL  USA version and  I have some questions that  I don´t understand.
The model is a 113 044 12 009 ...
The  number of motor is 130 983 12 005 ...
The injection is Bosch PES 6 KL 70 B 120 R20Y 0 408 026 017 and the distributor is Bosch 0231 116 051 but the  cylinder head is 129 016 03 01

Is this possible because this number is for 250 models ?
I don´t understand the mystery
Any of you know the explanation ?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english

Greetings from Spain

Hello Adivasi,

I bought this car last year to restore. The documentation is MB 280SL USA 69.
When I bought I check the chassis number and engine number but nothing else
The car starts normally but It´s in a garage without number plates waiting to be restored.
Now I am checking all the parts and my surprise is the number of the cylinder head that I have taken over the second  spark plug  129 016 03 01 E 9.5
I do not understand because the rest of chassis numbers 113 044 12 00934.  Motor 130 983 12 0059 17 Injection PES 6KL  70B 120 R 20Y 040 8026 017 and 0231 116 051 distributor correspond to model 280 sl.

The car starts without problems every weekend.
I just do not understand

Thanks

Hello,

The head should have a model designation cast on it. What is it 250SE, 280SE, 280SE/A ??

I am thinking maybe you are misreading the 129.......... number on the head.
