I have read reports from both JA17 and the Benz Dr that angle of rotation torque settings are used for the big end nuts and the flywheel bolts.
I am using a Haynes manual and there is no reference to this, can you please tell me if there are any other fasteners on the 280sl engine that uses these settings and what would be the initial setting before you initiate the 90 degree setting.

Hi,
that info is correct. Only the flywheel and rod bolts use angle of rotation. The specs are in the BBB.
If you don't have a gage to measure the rotation use a carpenters square. Use a bar with no ratchet or you might get messed up. Have someone hold the square and turn until the handle of your bar lines up with the square. That's more than close enough.
