I have a 1967 230 SL that was built in June of 66. It has a white steering wheel with a black shifter knob. Is that correct? If I wanted to change it to white, does anyone know how to get it off and where I can find a white one?

You should be able to use the search function to find out more on the combinations, I believe it has been typed about before.
For removal, the ball just pops off. You have to come at it from underneath, with a pair of pliers or similar, wrapped in a towel or cloth to prevent scratches. It is a pressed on fit.

I bought my car with an orignal ivory wheel and a black shifter knob. I purchased an ivory knob from sls in Germany as I prefer the look. Not sure if its "original" or not, but it works for me.

I bought mine from this supplier in Germany, they are after market but very presentable & reasonably priced.
