I would doubt it, but who knows for sure?

Perhaps this is a very personal thing, but to me the look of the car without headrests is more 'period', and more streamlined, than with them. Not much good for whiplash though.....

Hello Erick,
This would be a good question for Tom Hanson. Actually the head rests on W107 chasis SL's were the same as all the sedans of that era and previous. So I suspect that the W113 SL's were the same also!? Cars equiped with these seats have some internal structure built in to accept these headrests.

Not the same.

The W113 headrests are substituted by the W107s in the parts lists. They are close enough. The hole in the side is for tightening the tilting adjustment.

Erick - I have a pair of 113 headrests that were dealer add-on to a 1965 230sl, I think that there is part number on the rails that go inside the seatback like 113-914-xx-xx. I agree with kns, I took them off for a more period look. Let me know if you may be interested in them.

I would like to chim in here for a moment. Mercedes-Benz being the forward moving company it is offered a different kind of externally mounted headrest for very early sedans during the 1960. It wasn't till 1969 that Mercedes-Benz had to comply offically with the man dated laws of the united states and install headrest through out its model line. I am not sure if the headrest are easy to attach with out some modifications to the inside of the back cushion. I think Tom Hanson could give us a parts run down and cost analysis of what parts are need to up date your seats to comply with later Department of transportation recommendations.
I agree Mercedes-Benz cars are safe but when hit unsupported body parts can take there toll. I donot think that the cost of safety would cost points at a car show when driving a 35 year old car means also surviving in Harms way.

I have found two 116's in a local yard that are mine to pull apart at will. (Owned by a friend).
I can get the headrests from the seats, including all internal fittings. Can anyone tell me if they'll fit my '66 113 (which originally had them according to the data card but which since seem to have been lost, perhaps with the old seats)? I want headrests back in the car for safety reasons.
Read lots of threads - much talk about 107's and 108's, but no mention of (1974) 116's.
(And is there anything else I can use on these cars?)
Thanks,
JH

Hello Rob,
No the stalks are not the same on a W116. They are completely different even down to the plugs. The only stalk which is close is a W108 250S, SE , this unit may function in a W113 but if I recall the angle or length of the arm is a little different.
Headrests from many models will work W108, W116, W123, W115, W114, W107, W109. In general these are models 1969 through 1985 era. Correct versions in early sedans and SLs up to around 1972 had the correct hole in each side, but all these later ones work just the same without the hole, (a minor difference). I will try to post some pictures of these versions asap.

Joe,
Thanks for the answer. I will go ahead with taking the ones from a 116. I'll take some photos to show how they fit in.
Thanks for answering my question.

thanks Joe, will continue to look for a replacement elsewhere, mine must have been damaged sometime as everytime I use the indicators it sets of the washers, just too sensitive, so I have had to disconnect the washer motor.
