Title: Quality German Tools
Post by: Bob G ✝︎ on January 27, 2004, 12:22:00
I hate advertising, so please excuse me but I was so happy with the service of Samstag sales I felt our members should know about Andrew Poston. He has a business that is dedicated to stocking and finding original German tools for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW and many others. Many of his tool you will see in the big dealer repair manuals. Not only will Andrew stock some of these odd type tools like the special tool to adjust the valves on our M130E engines, but will make custom quotes on tools.  The custom price depends on the nature of the tools.

I am very happy I found Andrew. His service is quick, reliable, and backed by his knowledge. Please check out his web site www.samstagsales.com or call 615-735-3388 It makes owning a very special car like ours all the more enjoyable.

I second that. Samstag sells very fine tools and is a vendor worth recommending.

I bought a 17mm (?) hex head socket driver from them to use in my differential drain & fill plugs.  It had to be short to allow room for the tool between the differential and the fuel tank.  They were the first place I found one after looking at Sears hardware, local hardware store, and the Grainger catalog.

Easy to work with and have good tools.

Looks like they are able to supply us with every tool we may ever need. One disadvantage for non US residents is the extra charge for S&H. Do we have a supplier like samstag here in europe.

If you buy larger / more expensive items from outside Europe, don't forget about the import duty and sales taxes due. There must be places in Europe similar to Samstag, but I have not found them yet. It is not that easy to locate tools vendors in The Netherlands if you are not in the professional garage business, I have learned. Maybe other European members know of some good source(s) for special tools - there must be at least some in Germany? BTW "Samstag" means "Saturday" in German.

Cees,
you may look into Hommel Hercules Werkzeughandel (HHW), at www.hhw.de
They have a branch in Koeln, e-mail hhwkoeln@hhw.de
They sell tools from over 100 manufacturers.
