Title: Distributor Point Cleaning or POSSIBLE UPGRADE

We are in process of cleaning the distributor points from my 68 250SL that has original mechanical points that has a tremendeous amount of build up, thus I was wondering if it will be a better idea to try to upgrage the DISTRIBUTOR system with electronic spark control (such as HALL Sensor) instead of mechanical points? What would you recommend and where can I buy this upgraded distributor system that will be a FIT for my 68 250SL?

MSD ignitions can be used as well. A search on the subject will serve you well...
