Title: Transmission , speed and rpms HELP !!!
Post by: ventcap on September 24, 2009, 05:25:12
can someone shed some light, i need some help, just bought a rebuilt transmission from MB dismantlers, got it installed but the ratios seem to be off... does someone know if this is correct.
50 mph ( 80kph) almost at 3000 rpm, i kinda remember that i was travelling at 110 kph at approx 3000 + rpms in my old transmission. is this correct and if not can anything be done to adjust for that on the new rebuilt transmission. Even the downshifting only occurs when the rpms drop to 1300 rpm, a real nuisance when going uphill. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Make sure  your transmission makes two shifts from start at partial throttle. It normally starts off in second gear.   Make sure your linkage is set up correctly.  Read the adjustment  page that Sun Valley gives out. It is good.

If you have a BBB is will list all the shift points at different throttle positions. Any vacuume issues from improperly set timing, or vacuume leaks will also cause shift problems.

If you need the factory shift points at different speeds let me know and I will list them for you.
