Hello group I am new to the Pagoda Group.
I recently had to take possession of a 1966 230 sl. I say had to take possession because the customers never picket it up after repairs.
I have been repairing MB for 20 year and I have always like the 113 body I think is a beautiful classic. I had decided to restore this car to the best possible way until I started uncovering some of the undercoating and fiber glass. I have found lots of rust. :(
From the research I have done it looks that most of the body parts that I will need are available. I don’t know if it is worth it. I got the car for very little money and I can get the parts for a great price.
This would be a long term project and I have a shop were I can do all the mechanical work.
Enclosed you will find some pictures with the dreaded rust.
I am open to suggestions
Thanks

First of all welcome to the Group Alex!
If you look at it as a labor of love (meaning you would have to basically enjoy doing this type of bodywork) and are willing to not count all of the hours you will spend on it, it's certainly worth it in my opinion. If you can apply some discipline to the process, i.e. a reasonable schedule that gets the car done so you can start enjoying it 'soon enough', you will get rewarded by (1) the pleasure of driving a timeless elegant classic and (2) the knowledge that you saved one more of these time capsules for future owners (we are all just temporary holders, no matter how long we stretch out our period of ownership - our cars can outlive us!).
Besides the hours, parts and elbow grease needed, you may need some advice from time to time, and possibly some encouragement. Both can be found here in great quantities ...
Good luck on your decision; others please chime in and please let us know what you end up deciding.

Thank You
I already got one estimate for replacing the floors trunk floor and repair the frame.
Pats cost is not too bad $1100.00 the labor is another story 13000.00. That is with a good manufacturer. But I will have to give him the body with no engine or rear end.
That is lots of work!
I will get other estimates and then I will take a decision.
Regards
Alex
