From what I've read it has basically the same dimensions as the Viper. Makes sense since the two companies had briefly merged.
-
Hmm, now that you mention it, it does have some Viper resemblance.
-
Its an all new space frame chassis...they used viper cladding on test mules

There was only ever one "Gullwing," all the rest are marketing imitations. In my humble opinion, one of the biggest mistakes M-B ever made was to resurrect the "300SL" badge and apply it to a personal car. Thankfully, that issue was short lived.
-
I agree.
The SLR was not great, bloated, scissor doors, cushy ride, with SLK nose job, and terrible sales.
This SLS is a better iteration; and will give exotic buyers another well-engineered option besides, Audi R10, Gallardo, and finicky Italian exotica.
Gullwing doors/spacframe chassis is a landmark in automotive design and needs to be emulated once a century.

Regrettably I think the rear is "butt-ugly", literally... :'( Can't afford one, anyhow.

I just saw two of these outside my apartment in NYC / SoHo....one Works Silver, the other Dark Blue
Mercedes definitely picked the right spot to show it off, with hot Models walking by and around the corner from the old CBGB.
In one one word, its stunning. Very muscular, low, wide, hunkered down, and creases/details in body that dont come across in pics. The back is tappered and wraps the wheels/exhuast ports.
The exhuast note is exactly like the Ford GT.
They have a winner; this will be sold out.
