Title: Rear suspension removal
Post by: Ash on June 05, 2009, 08:45:50
I need to refinish the underside of my 280SL and wondered if removing and refitting the complete rear suspension was a particularly skilled job?

I have already removed the front suspension and engine/gearbox with no problems.

I rebuilt my rearend over the winter and re-installed it recently. Was not a particularly challenging job to reinstall and did not require any special tools. You may want to replace the rubber on the front of the trailing arms and the rubber on the springs, depending on their condition.

How much work was it to do the front end? I may do it next winter.

I have not touched it yet but the car has low mileage so hoping to just repaint it!
