what type tool is used to remove and tighten the emergency switch crome grommett?
-
I'm sure Mercedes has a special tool, but I've used a set of lock-ring pliers with some success. There chrome rings are never supposed to that tight anyhow...

There is a guy on ebay who periodically sells a "special socket" for removing the bezels of the switches. The problem is that most of the bezels are different, and the socket he sells doesn't fit over the ones that have knobs attached, like the fan knob for instance. I sent mine back. I use snap ring plyers and do it carefully.

Make your own from a wire coat hanger - take a 10" to 12" section, bend to a "U" shape, then place in a vise and turn the very end of each leg at ninety degrees toward the other leg. File the end of each ninety degree "pin" that you just made to the appropriate length to fit the hole in the escutchon and you have a tool which will last you for many years.

the coat hanger is also a very good idea
