Title: Fancy a screw?
Post by: JamesL on May 07, 2009, 09:44:57
For those in London, try.... Clerkenwell Screws

http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1100/15422.php

Good old fashioned shop with a counter. I wandered in there yesterday with two random screws in my pocket. Plopped them on the counter and a few minutes later walked out with replacements. Proper screws/hardware shop.

One of my replacements was for the bracket that secures the bonnet/hood catch to the bulkhead. Mine had three loose screws and one missing. Got four shiny new replacements.

The other replacements were for the bottom of a nutmeg mill...

Fresh ground nutmeg at Tosh's house?  I'll be there. ;)

All kidding aside, there are many mail order places in the USA for all kinds of fastening devices...I've got so many on my scattered list it isn't funny.  If you want it, it's available.

There used to be a place in Neasdon called nuts and bolts that did cadmium plated (or colour) bolts, This guy not only had the bolt but usually had a ****-bit of history to go with it.  One of those  chaps whose story telling ages like an old car.  Sadly he passed away recently and the shop has not reopened.
