just adjusted the rotation force on the rear diff from 12 lbs to 16lbs and the diff now makes less noise . would the type of gear oil affect the noise? is so what to use to minimize the noise?
thanks

Before I tightened my diff drag, I had a definite whine betwen 45-60mph. After tightening it is barely perceptable and I can only hear it between 55-60mph with acceleration. I'm using Redline synthetic 75-90, don't know if it makes a difference.

thanks for all your past help ,the job was very easy with the right tools.my noise is only barely noticible at the same speed as you. hope I did not tighten it to much .
to all the others do you think synthetic would lower the noise even more?
thanks

Erik,
Can you define 'really easy' and 'the right tools'? I am about to attempt with another the replacement of my rear axle and will want to give it the once over beforehand.
Is the process one that is easily described?
