Title: Broken sholder bolts on soft top frame.
Post by: sfox on April 28, 2009, 02:01:31
I am getting ready to replace my soft top, but I found two broken sholder bolts on the frame. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? They are recesed 8mm with a straight screw driver head.

It sounds like those are the same bolts, one of which I had to replace on my soft top frame a while back.  I was unable to find a new one, so I got a machinist to make one for me.  It apparently wasn't that simple a job, and it did cost $80, but I couldn't figure out any other satisfactory solution.

There is also another screw but with a counter-sunk head. That is not available from MB but Mechatronic were selling them at techno Classica, Essen this year.

I actually lost one of my countersunk soft top bolts a couple of years ago and couldn't find one anywhere, in the end I had to make one by filing down a hex bolt. It took ages but it did do the trick for 50p and its still there.

Thanks for all of your responses. I call MB Classics and they think they found two of them for me. I should have them by this weekend. I let you know if they are the correct screws.
