The replacement distributor cap and rotor for the 051 distributor are listed in the Technical Manual (http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/Distributor#ServiceParts) as Bosch 1 235 522 060 and 1 234 332 088, respectively. However, the cap that came out is Bosch 1 235 522 051. I assume the new part number has superceded the original.
The original cap and rotor are made in Germany, but the replacements I have are made in Spain, and appear to be made of lower quality materials. Are the original Bosch made-in-Germany parts still available?

Hello, Waqas,
'051' is still a good # for the cap but has been superceded by '060'.
All these 'old tech' items are no longer made by Bosch in Germany. Many now come from Brazil, Spain and India etc.

This is a fact of life in our globalized society. As long as you bought a name brand product like Bosch, you should be assured of Bosch's quality regardless of where it was made. It was made to Bosch's standards and quality. I bought recently a Bosch voltage regulator, it was made in Spain. I replaced the antenna on my car with an automatic antenna made by Hirschmann. Strangely enough, it was made in China. These companies are original part suppliers to Mercedes Benz, and once manufactured in Germany only.
