Some of you are aware that last year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. While prostate cancer is normaly considered slow growing, I was concerned because my cancer cells were catagorized as moteratly agressive. On February 5, 2009, I went in for a robotic radical prostectamy. The pathology report indicats that the cancer was contained in the prostate so I am now cancer free! Early diagnosis was very important in my case.
I am now able to work 4 hour days, but it will be another 2 or 3 months before I will be able to get back to working on my SL.
Guys, don't put off you medical check ups.

I'm cancer free too but I still can't work at my normal pace.
In 2006 I was told that I had a thyroid tumor in my upper chest. I had it removed in early Sept of that year and the patholigy report came back looking not very good. I had my thyroid removed on Nov 6, 2006 and radio active iodine in Feb 2007. My check up a year later showed all traces of cancer were gone.
I was off work for about 10 months and it was really more than a year before I could do very much at all. They had to break my stermun and cut between my ribs almost to my right arm pit to get at the tumor which was growing behind my esphagus.
I'm right handed and it's still very sore in there. I have good days and bad ones too but I'm healthy otherwise. I get a blood test every 6 months and part of that is a yearly PSA test. For 20 bucks it's well worth the price. My father had prostrate cancer in 1994 and had cryo surgery which basically freeze drys the prostrate gland. He's 82 now and is going very well so there's hope for anyone who gets treatment early.

Good news from all of you... I do not have cancer but I lost my Dad to prostate cancer, he had radical prostectomy done in 1997 but it returned 5 years later and he bttle it for 5 more years; he passed away 2 years ago... it is very important to have the PSA check and early detection is the best medicine... :) My 230SL was my Dads jewel...

k, although I saw that article too, I think Daryl's advice is well heeded. Don't use this controversy as an excuse to put off screening. It's what you do with the results that matters. PSA screening is still a critical tool. Be safe, you guys.

All other difficulties in life seem trivial if your good health is at risk. Some of us have been fortunate and lucky to have been spared these burdens.
