Title: My Father Mr Mercedes- off topic
Post by: knockmacool on March 11, 2009, 13:02:15
Interesting article in Irish Times on a racing driver, Charles Jarrott, and his book. See

What made me laugh was a search on Amazon which yielded two further titles, "Dinghy Sailing for Boys- Or Girls" and "My Father Mr Mercedes". Judging by the prices, the book reviewed in the IT is of historical significance, but has anyone laid eyes on My Father Mr Mercedes (clearly not written by the same C Jarrott)?

Search also led me to the Jarrott's website, which has a great picture of 300SLs on a winter rally

Anyway, you can tell it's been a quiet day here :o

.../... has anyone laid eyes on My Father Mr Mercedes?
The book “My father Mr Mercedes” is written by the son of the famous motoring personality Emil Jellinek, who lived in France, on the Riviera, early 20th Century.
Guy Jellinek had a sister with some fame, her name was Mercedes… Their father Emil Jellinek became a driving force in establishing the Daimler motor cars on the market,
and also to develop these cars from Stuttgart, to make them fast and innovative.
Read more about Emil Jellinek and his daughter with the famous name, for instance here

The book is certainly readable and interesting
