Title: fuel leak at fuel pump

i have a hose clamp or something loose at the fuel pump----It;s dripping fuel-----------is there a chance of fire if i drive it to my mechanic---------------i will tow it if so-just trying to save the aggravation of a tow?  It is an electric pump, so there is some worry there

Hey Rmmchl, Does it only leak when the pump is running? If so, you may give squeezing under there a try. First, take a good look with it leaking to see exactly where its coming from. The hose may have split -- but if its on the large hose that heads to the front, and the split is near the clamp, the hose can be pushed further onto the hard pipe and reclamped.
And how far away is the mechanic? Personally I think I'd drive it there before I'd tow it -- but it depends on how much fuel we are talking about here.

i just got back from driving it there-i went ahead and risked it--It leaks when the pump is on---------Probably a crack in the hose or clamp area-I'll get it fixed tomorrow-thanks for the input

while its in the shop , I'm going to have new auto transmission lingage bushings put on-those are the little clear plastic bushings that make the shifter shift tight through the gears-I replaced them 15 years ago-It has a little play in it again. I bought the bushings from buds last year. Now is a good time to have them put on. Its a 30 minute fix
