Title: Engine dies when put in forward gears
Post by: xcashewx on February 16, 2009, 01:40:55
engine runs fine, i have the idle set at around 800 in "P", when i put it in reverse it drops slightly to around 750 rpm but in drive it drops drastically to the point where it barely runs. i noticed that the linkage moves a little when in R but when put into 4 it doesnt move at all. could this just be the oil pressure switch on the transmission not working? if so where can i find a new switch

Hello,

Yes there is a separate pressure switch on the transmission for reverse and forward.  They are hexagon shaped and have a single wire with a metal pressure line. One is  on each side of the transmission.  I am not sure which is which. Try switching the wires to see if the problem switches also!  There is a bit of info on these in the "linkage Tour"

Take care,
