It looked to me like he wasn't belted in on the track... and he was opening and closing the soft top wrong ;)  ;D

For the 230SL the manual shows putting the top up you latch the back first. The 280SL shows it the other way. My 230SL won't latch on the rear if the front latches are hooked first.

I always latch the rear of the top first.  It puts incredible stress on the windshield frame if the front is attached first and then you try to get the back to latch.  As for seatbelts, maybe the car didn't even have them. My '64 (#1515) came from the factory without seatbelts (according to the data card.) The dealer had to install the lap belts (I've since put new shoulder belts in mine.)  Great video!
