Has anyone ever attempted to remove the chrome trim ring on the center gauge cluster to clean the inside of the glass.
My glass has a very light haze, only visible in certain lighting conditions, but it is annoying. I've had the speedo out and gained
access to the back of the cluster, but did not remove it until I was sure I could improve it's condition.

Yes, it can be removed on the same way as the speedo/tacho, by uncrimping the fold at the back with a small screwdriver.
You have to undo the oil pressure pipe from the back but because of the temp. gage capillary tube, it cannot be completely removed. With the steering wheel removed, you can create enough room to work on it in situ.
Yreat this exercise as a project and change all the bulbs while you're in there.
Note: The rheostat knob comes off with the glass!!

Best to pull out the rheostat knob first. it is just a push fit.
Be careful with the rheostat knob!
On mine the knob has a circlip on the inside, so it comes off with the glass.
