hi got a very late 280sl would this head fit?

I think the combustion chambers are the late shape.

Check the casting numbers on both heads:

Yes, the head pictured is the later head (oval shaped combustion chambers).  Compare the casting numbers to those on the chart. Those heads using the same head gasket are interchangeable.  Do not inter mix the early (square combustion chamber head) and the later (oval combustion chamber head).   

Also measure the thickness of the head in the picture. It looks like it has already been cut at least once.  The minimum thickness is 84mm.
