Title: dash padding

The metal components of my 1965 230 SL dashboard were obviously covered with some sort of padding.  I have the necessary leather to recover the components but would like to use the correct thickness of foam (or whatever) under the new leather.  Can you give me an idea of its composition?

You might try some searches under "dash," there have been numerous discussions about the padding and shaping it correctly.

Thanks for your help.  There was a very revealing posting with a measurement of 5mm thickness.
