Thanks for posting the information. I got one from Miller's this summer and, while the profile was correct, it was about 2-3 mm too small. Will check on this one.

On my last two attempts with this part #, I received a poster tube cap like plug and again too small as Johnny says.  ???

In the same area:

After I removed the AC I was left with two 38mm dia. (1 1/2 in.) holes in the firewall.
I haven't found a MB part number for suitable blanking plugs, but SLS can supply them, no. 798772.

I received a lot of wrong plugs in the past by trying several sources.
I learnt similar parts were used, with incorrect diameters. Last week
a correct one came in. That`s why I posted the #.

The hole diameter was 4,5 cm. Early cars did not have this hole from
factory. If someone drilled the hole later, it may not have 4,5cm.

Have a nice day,

TOM

I purchased one from Tom Collit on eBay a couple months ago.  I don't know where he got them, but it has a nice snug fit and overall size as the original.

I just bought one from the Classic Center and it was $6.  Very good fit.  They said it is in production again not new old stock.
