Title: Slick 50 Additive
Post by: Largeowner on December 24, 2008, 15:40:13
Slick 50 produces an additive for "high mileage" transmissions.  I am just wondering if any members have any experiences good or bad with this product in the Pagoda.

Thanks,

Large

It's probably worth doing a search as this subject has been covered before in some detail. There are some interesting artilces that refer to class action law suits against some companies that make products such as this one that in reality do nothing for ones engine/transmission. Some even think that they do more harm than good.

I wouldn't put anything like this in my car. I have, though, used BG 44K added to my fuel to clean the injectors and lines. It is very expensive, but came highly recommended on the net. It is, though, bloody hard to find. I wouldn't bother with any other products, and I won't be seeking out the BG44K again for a while at the price it is today.

Marvel Mystery Oil is about the only additive I will use.  Works good in fuel and oil.

As a fellow mechanic once said "It takes 17 steps to get Teflon(tm) to stick to a frying pan. How do you think it sticks to an oily engine?"

Transmission fluid is a pretty well engineered fluid. In our cars it doesn't get worked very hard at all. A regular fluid change is all that's needed.
