I recently purchased a retro 250 230sl radio with all the modern mp3, cd, mem card etc stuff from Becker auto sound in New Jersey. They also have 8 inch speakers with tweeter that fits under the seats, or mounted in foot wells. A good retro look and modern sound without cutting up your investment.

Hi billhon. Was the Becker aftermarket stereo difficult to install? The previous owner of my 1966 230sl tastelessly modified it to accommodate a horrible Pioneer head unit. It looks so out of place. I would like to make lemonade out of my lemons with the Becker unit. Also, I see you are in Idaho. I live in the Eagle/Garden City area myself. Thanks in advance.

The one on the Becker Autosound site looks like the an alternative to the RetroSound radios, but I still hate it. I can't imagine that Becker actually makes that...

The "new" Becker Mexico with navigation is an interesting and expensive radio. To the best of my knowledge, maps for the United States are still not available.

sorry for the late reply. my 1968 has din radio mounts so the new radio fits easily. becker auto sound sells this radio but it is not made by becker. i have heard blaupant makes it overseas somewhere. the look and sound is decent with a good 4 speaker set up. i am in boise so please contact me at billhon@yahoo.com.

As far as I know Becker discontinued the two modern/vintage radios. They are now available from time to time on a secondary market for a ridiculous price.
A cheaper option for broken classic Beckers is to retrofit it with new beset and facia, and installing a new electronic stuff inside. The Krzysztof of Retroteile does it quite successfully.

Oddly enough, I just looked at the Mechatronik AMG/SL video and they have installed a 7948 in that
Maybe they bought all the stock - they have a shed full of AMG motors....

According to HK Engineering Becker just started to produce this radio again. Price 1999 €.

surprise surprise....
For the US Becker auto sound offers the Euro version at nearly 2400 US$. Not cheap, and it comes with the Navi function

It's not a nav function I'd rely on !!
