Title: Rear License plate Lights
Post by: n/a on November 19, 2003, 17:52:35
I removed my rear license plate lights (one on each side) and found the glass or plastic lens all obscured and broken. Does anyone know where to get a replacment lens??

Here is another link from elsewhere on this site. The catalog is not available, but an e-mail to them might be well placed

According to my 230SL Spare Parts List book:

113 820 00 62 License Plate Lamp assembly (2)
007985 004127 Lens Head Screw (4)
000137 004101 Spring Washer (4)
113 997 03 81 Grommet (2)
072601 012130 Bulb For License Plate Lamp (2)

I don't know if you can get the lense seperate, you will have to check and let us know.  I could use a couple!

Hi,

That parts are still available!  :)

But I haven't found the lenses alone in the current Spare Parts book.

Part number 113 820 0062 is the complete rear license plate light, including the electrical cable and plug to the tail light. With that part number you could order it in your local MB dealer. Price in Germany is 66.50 Euros (and the car have two). If you also want the Grommet for each (113 997 0381) the price is 0.65 Euros/each.

Thank you for all the input, but I decided to just make a lens out of plexiglass for the time being. It fits perfect inside the gasket seal, just does not have the ridged plastic the original lens has, but did not want to buy new lights just for the lens now,m as I have the entire interior to begin.

Sounds like a reasonable alternative for the time being. Like everything else, priorities need to set the pace.

Good luck with the interior work.
