Door striker.
« on: January 02, 2018, 08:30:04 »
Hello group and Happy New Year.
I’m having trouble getting a door to shut properly; normally it’s just a case of a worn striker but the striker in this car is different to all of the others that are either on cars here or in my second hand inventory. Can anyone confirm or deny that this striker is in fact correct for 113 and if so can you sell me one? Thanks.

Looks like the one in my 250 SL

I know these have changed along the way, and it has been discussed on the forum. I am attaching a screen shot from SLS that has several pictures and changes

The difference in this particular striker is that it has a “saw tooth” type arrangement for arresting the lock. I’ve never noticed one like it before and having now fitted one with the more conventional rectangular hole for arresting the lock the door shuts fine. I suspect that this striker is from a different model; it would be nice to know exactly what model to save me scrutinising every model that comes in my shop with a hope of identifying it.

When you look at better picture of what you may be holdin gin your hand, you will see there is no "saw-like" rubber inside the rectangular window.

Maybe someone just stuck something there for some purpose?

Sort of looks like somebody changed both locks and striker from another Mercedes line?

Indeed, that is my supposition. As I said, the closing problem is rectified by fitting the correct striker; I would just like to know what this one is from so I can store it so in 10 years time when I need one I can find it again!

No, 123 ones look different. This one LOOKS like a pagoda one until you examine the actual locking part underneath but thanks for the input.
