Title: Rev cable
Post by: jan lauwers on July 15, 2019, 19:46:04
Hi guys,

I am stripping my car in preparation for a repaint.

Right now I am working on the dash and I this afternoon I removed the rev counter. I noticed that the thin metal rev cable is sticking out quite a bit of its black hoose. In fact, it is sticking out so much that I can not bring the cable nut anymore close to the back of the rev counter to screw it back on. I also noticed that, when I switch the engine on, (with the rev counter out) I don't see the cable turning...while I think it should be turning, no? Has it somehow disconnected from the engine?
Should I detach the cable on the engine side, to fix it back correctly in its hoose? Problem is that I can't access it there; IP and other items are sitting in the way.

Any thoughts, please?

Thanks, gentlemen!

Jan

Just rotate the core and feed it back into the housing. Sounds like the core dis-engaged at the engine end. If that does not work dis-connect it at the engine and fit it up there first.
