Title: Opinions Needed Nardi Anni Wheel
Post by: hauser on November 15, 2010, 04:20:22
I found this Nardi Anni steering wheel for sale on ebay.  The selling price is outrageous but I think I've found one at half the price.  I would like to get your opinions if I should pursue this or just go with the regular Nardi Classic wheel.

Thanks!

I was originally drawn to the "Anni" but I think I would stick with the "Classic" wheel. If you look at our interiors Paul Braque designed a very purposeful unadorned interior. I think the Anni is a little too decorative.  Sort of like putting the Venus de Milo in the middle of a modern art exibit.

Not to mention the Classic is half the money in reproduction.

I think Tom Sargent has that wheel and it looks fab. The "guilloche" on the spokes looks just like that on the dash....

I like both types of Nardi and I'm not sure I feel flush enough to blow this kind of cash on one but I prefer it to the cut-out spoke wheel.

Hi James,
That looks good value compared to this one!

I spoke with Jeff at Classico Wheels today.  He suggested that I go even larger than the 390mm Nardi wheel.  This was not what I wanted to hear.  If I were to go with something that big I would just keep it original.  It was obvious he and I were not on the same page.  I'll give Crowder's a call tomorrow and see what they have to offer.

I went with the bigger 390mm wheel for my 280SL that was original in the day and it looks great.  I also have two other classic Nardi's, one on a 230SL and it doesn't have the same pinache.

It's a beauty that complements the etching on the IP.

Here's another place to buy a reproduction at $625: http://www.blastmart.com/customer/home.php?cat=80&page=1
