Title: Heater unit controller light ‘window’
Post by: Merc_Girl on July 04, 2021, 10:40:45
Hi

I’m not sure quite what you name the part, but I’m looking for the clear cylindrical cover, which has a base on it, which houses the bulbs for the heater unit?

Does anyone have such an item or know ps who may sell? I’m struggling to find on any of the ‘usual’ websites and as some don’t have pictures, it’s hard to tell what you are ordering!!
I’ve seen this unit on eBay but for the whole thing, including the electrical element, plus was a silly amount for p&p to UK!

Item I need is that circled in red

Thanks in advance

Katie

Hey Katie,

I just ordered these from Vintage Euro Parts in southern  CA. I’m assuming you saw them there too?   This was the ONLY site I’ve them for sale.   They are well made and fit the control module perfectly.  Unfortunately apart from the lever sets, parts of that module seem to be unavailable.  You can purchase new castle nuts at a couple of sites, but that’s about it.

I think the clear plastic part is simply a cylinder.  You might try a store that specializes in plastic. If you can find the right diameter rigid  tubing, it could easily be cut to the correct length.

Here’s a place in the states where I’m pretty sure you could find it.  England must have a similar source.

Len,

Do you still have your old ones? Can you take measurements?

Yes.  I still have the old ones.  They’re slightly opaque now but my issue was the black portion which holds the bulb.  One was split and I didn’t want to try glueing it and worrying about it failing again.

I’ll take measurements and post later.  Good idea.

Yes, vintage euro parts

It’s a little more than a cylinder? There’s another ‘cylinder’ moulded inside which I think a screw goes into?

I’d be a little worried about cutting the top off and the internal moulded cylinder and then glue all parts back together in hope glue will hold?!?!?

Might just have to bite the bullet and buy the whole unit 😔

I might have a complete unit but I'd be reluctant to tear it down for just that part.

Bit the bullet and bought from the States 😔

Who had them? From a vendor, or eBay, (or similar)?

Mr FatBoy (slim?!?! 😉) is correct.

Vintage Euro parts have a website shop as well as buying directly. Their prices are a bit all over the place for the same thing though, mainly due to import charges, but this isn’t explained on their listing nor when you ask them!! You only find out the full price at checkout!

Don’t think that will impact you though being in the States!!
